  The trading card market has grown to an unbelievable size over the years, with a vast array of collectors and enthusiasts worldwide. I can remember when baseball cards dominated the card market just a few short years ago. But today the industry has evolved from a simple hobby to a multi-billion-dollar business, with a plethora of card types ranging from sports to entertainment. The sports card market, in particular, has seen tremendous growth, with top athletes' cards fetching prices that are more significant than their actual salaries. The demand for rare and vintage cards has skyrocketed, with collectors willing to pay top dollar for cards featuring iconic athletes like Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, and LeBron James. Apart from sports, the entertainment industry has also contributed to the growth of the trading card market. The Baseball Player Who Was A Spy

   Moe Berg was not just any ordinary baseball player. He was a man of many talents who played baseball professionally for 15 seasons, but his contributions to the sport went far beyond the field. Berg was also a scholar, a linguist, and a spy. Berg's baseball career began in the 1920s, and he played for several teams, including the Chicago White Sox, Washington Senators, and Boston Red Sox. He was known for his intelligence on the field and his ability to speak multiple languages, including Japanese, which he learned during a trip to Japan with a group of All-Stars in 1934. But Berg never advanced beyond playing backup catcher and substitute shortstop, and he always sat on the bench more than he played. He was regarded as the brainiest ballplayer of all time. Among collecting other things, I enjoy collecting baseball cards, and one of my favorite older players is number 42, Jackie Robinson. So I have been looking forward to researching and writing this blog post today. Let's talk about Jackie Robinson… and his fascinating story, including his impressive stats and some fascinating details. Jackie, or his given name, ‘Jack Roosevelt Robinson’ was born on January 31, 1919, in Cairo, Georgia. Cairo is a small city in Grady County, Georgia located in lower Georgia, about 30 miles from Tallahassee, Florida. Jackie was raised by his mother and siblings after his father left the family when he was six months old. His mother moved the family to California looking for a better life for her family. It’s about 2500 miles from Georgia and back then it would have taken them around four days by train to get there. Jackie was the youngest of five children and they were all talented athletes.
