Cristiano Ronaldo was born on the island of Madeira, Portugal on February 5, 1985, to a working-class family. His father, Jose Dinis Aveiro, was employed, to take care of equipment, at a local sports club, and it was his father who introduced him to the sport of soccer at a very young age. When he was only eight years old, his dad registered him to a local team, and it soon became evident that he had an immense talent for the game. Even at the tender age of ten, scouts from some of the best teams in Portugal had already taken notice of his abilities and were eager to sign him. Ronaldo's early career was marked with an abundance of potential, but he still faced many obstacles.
