He is considered one of the greatest baseball players of all time. For over 20 years he dominated the game and revolutionized the way it was played. He set numerous records that stood for decades and became a cultural icon known and revered by people all around the world. Now Let's Talk About The Babe...

George Herman Ruth Jr., also called "The Babe," was born on February 6, 1895, in Baltimore, Maryland. As a kid, he got into trouble with the law, and it was at the Catholic reform school he was sent to afterward that he first developed his passion for baseball. His talent quickly made itself known; at 19 years of age, the minor league team Baltimore Orioles had signed him. Thanks to his consistent brilliance on the field catching attention across leagues, Babe Ruth then joined the Boston Red Sox team in 1914 earning them championship titles three times between 1915 - 1918.

However, it was Ruth’s incredible batting skills that truly made him a legend. In 1919, Ruth was traded to the New York Yankees and made the transition from pitcher to outfielder. He quickly became known for his powerful swing and incredible ability to hit home runs. In 1920, Ruth hit a record-breaking 54 home runs and over the course of his career, Ruth hit a total of 714 home runs and set numerous records that still stand today. But Ruth's impact on the sport of baseball went beyond his impressive stats. He brought a level of excitement and entertainment to the game that had never been seen before, revolutionizing the sport and capturing the hearts of fans around the world.

Off the field, Ruth was known for his generosity and kindness. He often visited children in hospitals and donated money to charities. Despite facing personal struggles and controversies throughout his life, including battles with alcoholism, Ruth remained a beloved figure and an inspiration to millions.

Babe Ruth will forever be remembered as one of the finest baseball players the game has ever seen. His journey from a troubled youth to a sports legend is an incredible example of sheer determination and dedication and serves as an inspirational reminder that even one individual can have a lasting effect on the world. On August 16th, 1948, at the age of 53, Babe Ruth sadly passed away; however, his legacy will always live on.
