Did You Know Abraham Lincoln Is In The Wrestling Hall of Fame?

Abraham Lincoln was a wise man who understood the importance of living life to the fullest. He once said that “The best thing about the future is, it comes one day at a time”. This quote speaks to the value of taking life one day at a time, rather than trying to live our lives in the future. By focusing on the present, we can make the most of our current opportunities and experiences, and not be overwhelmed by the future. It can be difficult to focus on the present when the future often seems uncertain and intimidating. However, with a positive outlook and a focus on the daily opportunities we have, we can make the most of each day and move closer to achieving our goals. Lincoln’s quote encourages us to make each day count and to take the time to appreciate the beauty of the present moment.

Now here are a few fun facts about the 16th U.S. President that may surprise you. For instance, did you know that Lincoln was the first President to be born outside of the 13 original colonies? He was born in Kentucky in 1809. He was also the first President to have a beard while in office - a move that instantly made him more recognizable to the public.

In addition, Lincoln was an avid reader and a fast learner. He was self-taught in the law and was known to read several books in a week. He was also a skilled wrestler and was known to challenge people to matches during his time in Illinois. As a young man, Lincoln excelled at wrestling. Over the course of more than a decade, he rarely lost wrestling matches. Lincoln was known for using his physical strength to resolve disputes and was often called upon to settle arguments between two people. To this day, he is still considered one of the greatest wrestlers in American history. The National Wrestling Hall of Fame recognized his abilities as an "Outstanding American" in the sport in 1992 when it inducted him as a member of the hall of fame as one of the "Outstanding Americans" in wrestling. At the entrance of the Hall of Fame Museum in Stillwater, Oklahoma, a painting of Lincoln struggling in a wrestling match is displayed on the wall.  https://nwhof.org/hall_of_fame/bio/128

Lincoln was a man of many talents - both in his ability to inspire and motivate others and in his ability to listen to their concerns. He was known to take long walks at night, listening intently to the stories of those he encountered and offering thoughtful advice and guidance. His commitment to preserving the Union and to abolishing slavery has been an inspiration to generations of Americans, reminding them to stand up for what is right and to fight for justice and equality. His legacy lives on in the hearts of all who strive for a more perfect Union and for the ideals of freedom and opportunity for all. Lincoln's life and legacy will continue to shape the nation, and his example will serve as a beacon of hope and courage for future generations.

Abraham Lincoln is remembered for his many accomplishments and impact on the nation. Yet, it is his failures that have inspired many people to conquer their own life challenges. Despite his eventual success, his journey was not easy. He failed in business, was defeated in several elections, and even suffered a nervous breakdown. He was constantly met with adversity, but he persevered and eventually achieved success. This has helped to motivate many, who have found themselves in difficult situations, to keep going and never give up. Lincoln's story is one of resilience and determination and serves as a reminder to others that no matter how many times one fails, with enough perseverance and dedication, anything is possible

As said, he failed in business, was defeated in several elections, and suffered a nervous breakdown. But that’s not all, the list goes on....

Abraham Lincoln was elected as the 16th President of the United States in 1860, running on a platform of preserving the Union and abolishing slavery. His election sparked the secession of numerous Southern states and the beginning of the Civil War. Throughout his presidency, Lincoln was determined to keep the Union together and to end the practice of slavery. He was re-elected in 1864 despite the ongoing conflict, and he successfully pushed for the passage of the Thirteenth Amendment, which abolished slavery in the United States.

Tragically, Lincoln was assassinated on April 15, 1865, only 42 days into his second term. His death was a devastating blow to the nation, and he was mourned by millions. Even today, Lincoln is remembered as one of the greatest presidents in American history, a man of courage, integrity, and moral strength who devoted his life to the cause of freedom and the preservation of the Union.
